His father was japanese and his mother was american. His father Takeshi Sakuraba first meet his wife Tatjana Neumann during a anime cosplay convention on the planet Adonis many years ago. Both shared passion for anime and cosplay, and Tatjana knew more about video game s than Takeshi did which thrilled him.

Takeshi was an expert in RPGs and shooter games and Tatjana was an expert at fighting and Action Adventure games. The two talked almost nonstop during the convention and eventually hooked up and went out on a date. After 3 years of getting to know each other better they finally got engaged and got married and eventually Tatjana gave birth to a baby boy he who was named Obadiah.

Takeshi expressed that he didn't want his child having a japanese names he wanted something unique, a name he never heard of before. That was when his mother suggested the name Obadiah which he liked right off.
